Namgyal Lhamo is one of the few, and perhaps the last, exponent of Tibetan traditional singing and Tibetan Opera (Lhamo) to be born in Tibet.

After taking refuge in India at a the age of 8, Namgyal Lhamo was recognized as a child prodigy and trained for 14 years under the greatest masters of Tibetan Opera and Classical Music at the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) set up by His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Dharamshala (India).

Lhamo’s training and discipline over the years has given rise to an exclusive sound that emits multi layering within her vocal pitches that create a rich ambience that reflects her highland origin.

Namgyal Lhamo performs solo and is accompanied on stage by her voice, the Tibetan lute (dranyen) and her independent spirit conquering time to infuse past musical influences with contemporary interpretations, resulting in pure magic.
